Responsibilities
- Enforce local laws, traffic regulations, and ordinances to maintain public safety and order.
- Conduct criminal investigations by gathering evidence, interviewing witnesses, and documenting findings through detailed report writing.
- Perform patrol duties using standard passenger cars to monitor neighborhoods, respond to incidents, and deter criminal activity.
- Execute arrest procedures in accordance with legal protocols while ensuring safety for all parties involved.
- Apply use of force training appropriately during conflict management situations to resolve disputes effectively.
- Manage search and seizure operations within the bounds of procedural law and evidence law to secure crime scenes.
- Provide first aid and CPR when necessary to assist injured individuals until emergency services arrive.
- Utilize surveillance tools and techniques for crime prevention and investigation purposes.
- Handle evidence carefully following evidence law standards to preserve integrity for court proceedings.
- Demonstrate leadership in team settings, guiding less experienced officers and participating in ongoing training programs.
- Engage with the community through outreach efforts to foster trust and cooperation between law enforcement and residents.
Requirements
- Valid certification as a Police Officer with current licensing in good standing.
- Proven experience in law enforcement or criminal investigation roles; military experience is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of criminal law, procedural law, traffic laws, search and seizure law, and local ordinances.
- Proficiency in report writing with attention to detail for documentation of incidents and investigations.
- Physical conditioning that meets departmental standards for stamina and agility required for patrols and physical interventions.
- Ability to operate a standard passenger car safely under various conditions including high-pressure situations.
- Skilled in firearms handling specific to law enforcement standards along with use of force protocols.
- Familiarity with immigration law, animal handling, loss prevention, security procedures, fire safety protocols, and animal care is advantageous.
- Excellent conflict management skills coupled with effective communication abilities for diverse interactions with the public and colleagues alike.
