Civil Estimator (Vancouver Island Relocation) Jobs in British Columbia, Canada at Torus Talent

Our client, a leading civil construction firm with decades of experience delivering large-scale infrastructure projects across British Columbia, is seeking a Civil Estimator to join their team on Vancouver Island. This is a hybrid position offering long-term stability, career growth, and the chance to contribute to high-profile projects in the region. Relocation assistance is available.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare accurate and competitive cost estimates for civil infrastructure projects, including road construction, underground utilities, bridges, and run-of-river hydroelectric work
  • Review drawings, specifications, and site conditions to develop quantity take-offs and pricing strategies
  • Utilize estimating software to produce detailed bids and proposals
  • Identify and pursue bid opportunities in both public and private sectors
  • Collaborate with the General Manager and other Estimators to review tenders and refine estimates
  • Maintain databases of suppliers, subcontractors, unit costs, and productivity benchmarks
  • Participate in pre-construction planning, bid reviews, and post-award project kick-offs
  • Provide estimating support to project teams during execution, as needed

Ideal Candidate Requirements:

  • 3+ years of experience in civil estimating, preferably in roadworks, bridges, excavation, underground utilities, or hydro projects
  • Diploma or degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology; Gold Seal certification is an asset
  • Proficiency with HeavyBid estimating software; experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D is a plus
  • Strong grasp of unit costs, labor productivity, and local market pricing
  • Excellent attention to detail, organization, and communication skills
