Position Overview
The Clinical Dietitian is responsible for providing accurate, timely and appropriate nutrition assessment, management and support for clients and communities in Southern Health‑Santé Sud.
Responsibilities
- Provide nutritional assessment, planning, monitoring and support to clients.
- Exercise independent judgment to determine work priorities and initiate appropriate action.
- Collaborate with the health care team to deliver patient‑centered care.
- Maintain high quality standards and efficient task performance.
- Adapt to evolving techniques and procedures.
- Maintain accurate documentation and confidentiality.
- Support onboarding of new dietitians and provide vacation coverage as needed.
- Participate in Total Parenteral Nutrition activities when required at Regional Centres.
Requirements
- Minimum of two years of experience as a Dietitian or in a nutrition related profession.
- Bachelor of Science in Nutritional Sciences, Human Nutritional Sciences, dietetics or related field from an accredited Canadian university program, or an internationally accepted equivalent.
- Graduate of a recognized dietetic internship program accredited by the Partnership for Dietetic Education and Practice.
- Current active registration in good standing with the College of Dietitians of Manitoba.
- Current Food Handler Training Certificate Level 1 or equivalent within 6 months of hire.
- Optional:
Membership with Dietitians of Canada.
Qualifications and Skills
- Knowledge of Manitoba Long Term Care Standards.
- Skill in behavior change counselling and client‑focused approaches.
- Familiarity with motivational interviewing techniques.
- Knowledge of Total Parenteral Nutrition for positions located in Regional Centres.
- Strong organizational, communication and leadership skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Proficiency in both official languages (English and French) for bilingual positions.
- Ability to respect and promote a culturally diverse population.
- High level of attention to detail, accuracy and quality of work.
- Ability to maintain a positive working relationship with staff, residents, patients and clients.
- Ability to comply with verbal and written directions and maintain confidentiality.
Physical Requirements
- Demonstrated ability to meet the physical and mental demands of the job.
- No hazardous or significantly unpleasant conditions.
- May work occasional evenings and weekends as necessary.
