Database Administrator I

Location: Cold Lake

Schedule: Monday to Friday, On-site

Travel: Occasional future travel required using a company vehicle

Contract Length: 1 year

Overview

The Database Administrator I provides server database administration support across multiple database environments, including critical applications. This role supports database development, testing, and production environments and works closely with infrastructure and IT teams globally. The primary focus of this position is ongoing production support of existing databases.

This is an entry-level to junior position, well-suited for a developing Database Administrator who will primarily perform foundational database administration tasks. Extensive prior experience is not required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform database backup and recovery operations
  • Monitor database storage and manage space utilization
  • Execute database reorganizations and maintenance activities
  • Assist with database performance tuning and optimization
  • Troubleshoot database-related issues and incidents
  • Support database upgrades and patches
  • Maintain database objects and structures
  • Participate in deployment and support of development, testing, and production database environments

Qualifications & Skills

  • Previous experience as an IT professional or exposure to database administration
  • Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases
  • Understanding of data structures and database concepts
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with infrastructure and technical teams
  • Willingness to learn and grow within a database administration role
