** Design Specialist
– Electronics in Waterloo** !

The
** Design Specialist – Electronics** (III) is responsible for designing schematic and layout with a system-level perspective and making camera design contributions both individually and as a team.
*
* What You Will Do:

*** Design electrical circuits for machine vision camera test boards and camera boards.
* Design Printed Circuit Board (PCB) stackup and layout plan.
* Work with the PCB Layout team to design and implement the circuits on PCB.
* Uphold the design standard of Teledyne DALSA in terms of schematic entry and component selection.
* Ensure the board design is optimized for cost, manufacturability and testability.
* Write design review documentations and hold design review meetings.
* Run electrical circuit simulations.
* Debug and bring up new board design.
* Troubleshoot existing board design in labs and on production floor.
* Optimize machine vision imaging performance on the system level.
* Rework circuits on PCB with soldering iron.
* Assist the production team to ensure on-time deliverable of products to the customers.
* Equip with a system design mindset and work in a cross-functional work environment that involves electrical, firmware, FPGA, mechanical, thermal and test designs.
* Facilitate the dissemination of technical design information and lessons learnt to technical designers at Teledyne DALSA.
* Prepare for and give presentations about electronics design to both technical designers and managers.
* Collaborate with other technical designers on new camera design ideas and implementation concepts.
* Respond promptly to requests made by the production team or the customers.
** What You Need:
*** A minimum of 5 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 3 years and a Master’s degree; or a PhD without experience
* Electrical circuit design using any of the following circuit building blocks:  ADC, DAC, SMPS, LDO, Op-amp, clock generators, buffers, FPGA, microcontrollers, and fiber optic transceivers.
* Schematic entry using software tools such as Siemens PADS.
* Usage of oscilloscopes and multimeters.
* Knowledge some of the communication protocols:  I2C, SPI, UART, USB, and Ethernet.
* Experience in multi-Gigabit signal circuit design on PCB.
* Experience in board and cable interconnect solutions.
* Preferred Skills/

Experience:

** Experience in scientific, medical or other high-performance and high-reliability product designs is preferred
* Lean and agile orientation is preferred, particularly for those with a demonstrated ability in design thinking and innovative problem-solving.
