Director of Sales Jobs in Toronto, Ontario, Canada at VVS Films
VVS Films is looking for a Director of Sales to join our theatrical team. The role will work in tandem with our Head of Sales and will be responsible for developing sales strategy and booking our films in theatres across Canada. We are in search of someone with established industry relationships and the ability to analyze data and respond to the ever-changing distribution landscape. We seek a candidate who is up to speed on current movie-going trends and the overall entertainment landscape.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Collecting and analyzing data to develop comprehensive release strategies for our theatrical slate.
- Execute strategy by managing and negotiating bookings for multiple releases simultaneously. Ability to pivot in response to market trends on an ongoing basis.
- Negotiating favourable financial terms for all bookings, including new releases and film festivals.
- Maintaining respectful relationships with Canadian exhibition partners, film festivals, and our international distribution partners.
- Monitoring the film landscape on an ongoing basis to find relevant trends and/or opportunities.
- Work with the accounting team on film invoicing and collections.
- Seek alternative theatrical opportunities beyond our new releases to drive new revenue streams.
Basic Qualifications:
- 7+ years of film sales experience, ideally at an independent distribution company or studio.
- Established relationships with key Canadian exhibition partners.
- Data analysis skills.
- Knowledge of Excel, ComScore, MICA, and/or other film booking software considered an asset, but not a requirement.
- Understanding of the Canadian film landscape and historical box office trends.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Professional communication and presentation abilities.
- Fluency in French is considered an asset but not a requirement.
