THE POSITION

Our client is a Canadian-based global health company. Reporting to the Senior Director, Business Relationships & Project Management Office (PMO), the Director, PMO is accountable for the strategic and operational leadership and day-to-day performance of the PMO as the governing body for project and program delivery. This role has direct accountability for PMO leadership, talent development, portfolio execution, financial stewardship, and stakeholder engagement across complex, large-scale programs and initiatives. The Director will typically oversee approximately 20 to 30 projects of varying size and scope and will provide leadership and mentorship to a team of 8 to 12 including 4 internal and 4 to 8 external resources.

The Director will lead, drive, develop and establish a strategy that elevates execution and continuously improves project and program control frameworks, ensuring consistent application of delivery methodologies, governance, risk management, and reporting practices while enabling appropriate flexibility based on initiative complexity and delivery approach.

Acting as a primary escalation point and trusted advisor, the role partners closely with business leaders, GIS leadership, delivery teams, and external vendors to drive delivery excellence, transparency, value realization, and predictable outcomes.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

  • An undergraduate degree in Business, Science or Engineering or equivalent is required coupled with 10+ years of progressive, enterprise level project, program management experience coupled with experience operating within dynamic, fast-paced and entrepreneurial organizations within pharma, consumer packaged goods etc.
  • A strategic thinker with an “enterprise view” and demonstrated ability to execute and deliver on business objectives, the ideal candidate has experience allocating resources, prioritizing projects and developing roadmaps while managing change and transformation.
  • A driver and a doer who is energetic, creative and able to bring new ideas to the table, the Director will have the ability to balance enterprise strategy with execution excellence.
  • The ideal candidate possesses extensive knowledge of project management best practices and has experience building, professionalizing and elevating PMOs to facilitate transitions towards a more structured, disciplined and efficient organization. They will have experience managing budgets, and strong financial and portfolio management acumen.
  • With demonstrated success leading large‑scale transformation and complex, cross‑functional programs, the ideal candidate will possess an analytical mindset and strong business acumen to complement their knowledge of best-in-class-project management practices. The Director will have experience designing and implementing measurable processes to track progress with a proven ability to generate and share insights with key leaders and stakeholder to make data-driven strategic decisions.
  • Strong executive presence with exceptional communication and influencing skills and excellent presentation skills across technical and non‑technical audiences. The ideal candidate connects and engages with diverse audiences to ensure the successful delivery of strategic initiatives and proactively seeks new ways to help solve business challenges.
  • Empowering leadership style with a focus on accountability and outcomes and a proven ability to build and lead high performing cross-functional teams.
  • Advanced stakeholder management and negotiation skills.
  • Certifications (preferred), PMP, PgMP, Agile, SAFe, Lean.
