Reports to: Director of Equity and Strategic Initiatives
Hiring Range: $80,000 – $86,000 annually, plus competitive benefits and pension plan

About the position
This position is responsible for developing and leading the implementation of the evaluation strategy at Right To Food. It includes developing theories of change, logic models, programmatic evaluation strategies, data collection tools, analyzing and interpreting data, and engaging and reporting findings to internal and external audiences. The manager supervises one team member, works with other teams at Right To Food, and supports partners with reports and tools as needed.
Key responsibilities include ensuring alignment with the organization’s Theory of Change, values, the EIRA framework, and the Reconciliation Action Plan.
Key Responsibilities
- Renew annually the strategy for monitoring, evaluation, and learning at Right To Food, informed by internal needs and the latest developments in evaluation methodology.
- Work with diverse community food organizations across the country to customize logic models, evaluation templates, and tools for Right To Food programs and activities.
- Lead the collaborative process to design the Community Food Centre (CFC) Annual Program Survey strategy, involving Right To Food teams and CFC managers and staff.
- Develop, monitor, and report on Programs Department Key Performance Indicators.
- Discern and create individualized evaluation strategies for funding proposals and compile data for donor reports.
- Support Right To Food departments with research and backgrounders, as needed and as time allows.
- Support CFCs with community profiles, as needed.
Equity, Reconciliation, and Data Sovereignty
- Work through the Reconciliation Action Plan recommendations related to evaluation by reflecting, learning, researching, planning and designing how they will be implemented, collaboratively with consultants, colleagues, and partner organizations.
- Collaborate with colleagues, Indigenous, Black, Newcomer-led and serving partners, and consultants on creation of an evaluation approach that is informed by our EIRA framework and other approaches that are based on strengths, Two-Eyed Seeing, and are participatory in nature for Right To Food.
- Stay up-to-date on latest techniques in using evaluation to support reconciliation, equity and inclusion and implement within evaluation and research strategy and provide advice and guidance for the organization and partners.

Capacity Building and Training
- Develop and facilitate evaluation orientations and trainings, including an evaluation intensive course, Community of Practice and one-off sessions for Right To Food’s partner GFOs and CFCs.
- Design tools and resources, templates and offer training to external partners on logic models, theories of change and survey design.
Operations and Leadership
- Manage Evaluation Specialist and ensure successful delivery of activities according to work plan.
- Work with the Evaluation Specialist to analyze and report the APS findings to CFC partners and Right To Food.
- Participate on Right To Food working groups, including strategic planning, Annual Planning, and Reconciliation Action Plan.
Qualifications
- 5+ years experience developing and implementing evaluation tools using a mixed methods approach in a non-profit organization.
- Strong knowledge of diverse quantitative and qualitative methods, including participatory, developmental and Two-Eyed Seeing approaches.
- Knowledge of and experience creating logic models and theory of change.
- Strong analytical and report writing ability.
- Strong facilitation and capacity building skills.
- Knowledge of community food programs and working with a wide variety of demographically and geographically diverse organizations.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating research backgrounders and briefs and delivering evaluation related training.
- Experience in supervising and supporting staff.
- Digital fluency and adaptability, with the capacity to navigate evolving tools, systems, and workflows in a fast-paced organizational context.
- Clear alignment with Right To Food’s mission, values, and equity commitments, including cultural competency and an understanding of anti-racism and anti-oppression principles.
