Position Summary
The General Labourer – Saw Room is responsible for measuring, cutting, and handling pipe materials within a manufacturing environment. The incumbent operates various saws and hand tools to prepare materials according to production requirements while maintaining quality, safety, and housekeeping standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Measure and cut pipe materials to required lengths using bandsaws, roller saws, chop saws, and other appropriate equipment.
- Read and use tape measures and basic hand tools accurately.
- Load, unload, move, and organize pipe materials and finished products within the work area.
- Inspect materials and finished cuts to ensure quality and dimensional accuracy.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
- Perform basic equipment cleaning and report equipment malfunctions or maintenance concerns.
- Follow all company policies, procedures, and health and safety requirements.
- Work cooperatively with supervisors and coworkers to meet production goals and deadlines.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Education:
No specific educational requirements.
Experience:
Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial environment is considered an asset.
Certification:
Forklift certification is considered an asset.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to regularly lift, carry, push, and pull materials weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Frequent bending, reaching, twisting, and repetitive motions are required.
Work Environment
- Indoor manufacturing environment.
- Regular exposure to industrial noise, dust, moving equipment, and varying temperatures, including periods of elevated heat.
- Required use of personal protective equipment (PPE) as prescribed by company policy.
Compensation and Schedule
- Schedule:
Monday to Friday, 6am to 2:30pm.
- Compensation: $21 to $24 per hour, depending on experience.
