Role Description
This role is a full-time, on-site role based in Scarborough, ON. The Human Resources Manager will lead all aspects of Human Resources across our organization. This individual will serve as a trusted advisor to leadership while overseeing recruitment and onboarding, employee relations, performance management, training and development, health and safety, HR compliance with current legislation, and employee engagement.
We're looking for a professional who is both strategic and hands-on, who can think long-term while confidently managing the day-to-day responsibilities of the HR department. Success in this role will come from building relationships, improving HR processes, supporting managers, and helping create an environment where employees can thrive.
Experience in transportation, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or other operational environments is strongly preferred.
Key Responsibilities
Talent Acquisition & Workforce Planning
- Lead full-cycle recruitment for drivers, warehouse staff, mechanics, office employees, and management positions.
- Strengthen the company's employer brand through networking, career fairs, and industry partnerships.
- Oversee onboarding to ensure every new employee has a positive and successful start.
Employee Relations
- Act as a trusted advisor to managers on employee relations, performance management, coaching, and conflict resolution.
- Conduct workplace investigations and support disciplinary processes when required.
- Foster a respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace culture.
Learning & Development
- Coordinate employee training and leadership development initiatives.
- Identify opportunities for professional growth across all departments.
- Maintain training records and ensure required certifications remain current.
HR Operations & Compliance
- Develop, maintain, and improve HR policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Ensure compliance with Ontario employment legislation, Occupational Health & Safety requirements, Human Rights legislation, and applicable employment standards.
- Maintain accurate employee records while ensuring confidentiality.
Health & Safety
- Coordinate Health & Safety initiatives and required training.
- Assist with WSIB claims, return-to-work programs, and workplace accommodations.
- Ensure compliance with all applicable health and safety legislation.
Process Improvement & HR Strategy
- Continuously evaluate and improve HR processes to enhance efficiency and employee experience.
- Develop HR metrics and reporting to support informed business decisions.
- Partner with leadership to support organizational growth and continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
- Minimum 5 years of Human Resources experience.
- Experience supporting transportation, logistics, warehousing, manufacturing, or other operational environments is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of Ontario employment legislation, HR policies, and workplace health and safety regulations.
- Strong communication, conflict resolution, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with staff at all levels.
- Ability to develop and deliver training, support organizational development initiatives, and contribute to employee engagement.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise discretion, handle confidential information, and prioritize in a fast-paced environment.
- Knowledge of WSIB, Occupational Health & Safety, and return-to-work programs.
- Experience with HRIS platforms such as UKG or similar systems is considered an asset.
- Experience with Samsara or workforce management technology is an asset.
- CHRP designation is considered an asset.
