Job Description
This role focuses on providing IT support, including troubleshooting hardware, software, and network-related issues to ensure smooth day-to-day operations, while offering a structured growth path into building technology systems such as access control, video surveillance, intercoms, and other integrated security solutions. Over time, the position develops expertise in both IT infrastructure and advanced physical security systems, supporting a well-rounded career in technology and building systems integration.
This is a full-time hybrid position, Monday to Friday, with occasional after-hours or weekend support required, and is part of Boardwalk’s collaborative culture that promotes career growth and development, along with a comprehensive benefits package including health benefits, RRSP matching, training budget, and mileage reimbursement.
Responsibilities
- Work within a small close-knit team to provide technical support and troubleshooting to Associates and customers with a high degree of proficiency.
- Ticket management and incident resolution for a variety of hardware assets like mobile devices, VOIP phones, internet access, access control, printer and intercom support, anti-virus software and virus disinfection.
- Respond to customers via site visits, telephone or email to provide problem resolutions in accordance with service standards.
- Use monitoring, remote management, and ticketing platforms (like Fresh Service) to proactively identify and troubleshoot issues, document all activities, track incidents, and ensure timely resolution in alignment with established service level expectations.
- Assist with firmware updates, patching, and lifecycle maintenance of operational technology equipment, including cameras, access control devices, and intercom systems.
- Support user account management including rights, security and systems groups.
- Escalate issues appropriately to internal teams.
- Provide support to remote personnel using a variety of available software tools.
- Provide support for security systems, including access control and retrieval of video from digital surveillance platforms, while gaining hands‑on exposure to intercoms and other network-connected building technologies.
- Provide post‑implementation support, including system testing and validation, troubleshooting issues, updating documentation, and assisting end users following deployments or changes.
- Assist with structured cabling, device installation, and termination activities as required, with training and guidance provided.
- Perform field support tasks, which may include lifting equipment up to 50 lbs, working in mechanical rooms or common areas, using ladders where appropriate, and completing basic cabling or device installation activities.
Requirements Experience and Educational Requirements
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in a technical support or IT service desk environment.
- College or Technical School Diploma, certification, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
Assets (Preferred But Not Required)
- Industry certifications such as Microsoft, CompTIA A+, or Network+.
- Exposure to or familiarity with access control, video surveillance, intercoms, or other low voltage/security systems.
Technical Requirements
- Working knowledge of iOS and Android devices.
- Technical knowledge and experience supporting Microsoft 365 applications.
- Experience with Help Desk ticketing systems for incident tracking and resolution.
- Proficiency with Windows 11, Active Directory, web-based applications, and basic system administration.
- Foundational understanding of networking concepts, including IP addressing, switches, Wi‑Fi, PoE devices, structured cabling, and general network-connected devices.
- Exposure to building technology systems, including access control, video surveillance, intercoms, or other low-voltage systems, is considered an asset but not required.
