About This Position

The Occupational Therapist will provide coverage until May 2027 or until the return of the incumbent. The Early Psychosis Intervention (EPI) services model of care values a team‑based approach consisting of a multidisciplinary team of professionals who work together to provide assessment of services, develop and deliver intervention, support treatment and monitor treatment progress for people, and their families, experiencing first‑episode psychosis or at risk of experiencing it.

You’ll see clients within the age group of 18 to 30 years. The four main care plan targets include social, functional, vocational/academic, and cognitive needs. The occupational therapist supports the young adult in assessing their abilities in these domains and setting up programs to support or enhance the client’s abilities in these areas. Clients are often seen in their homes or in venues of preference.

The occupational therapist may be involved with teaching clients one‑to‑one or in groups.

You’ll complete assessments, develop and implement treatment plans, provide consultation, prescribe equipment, and deliver education to support clients and caregivers in achieving functional independence and optimal health outcomes. You also contribute to departmental goals by participating in quality improvement initiatives, research, and education, while providing functional guidance and work direction to rehabilitation assistants as part of the rehabilitation team.
