Procurement Specialist – Public Procurement (12-month contract)
Up to $47 per hour
Onsite (5 days per week, Brampton/Mississauga area)
Our client is recruiting for a Procurement Specialist. This 12-month contract position is onsite (5 days per week) and is focused on leading assigned Procurement projects from end to end.
You would work from requirement definition and sourcing strategy to final award and ongoing contract administration. Working within a public purchasing framework, you will advise internal departments, construct comprehensive bid packages, lead vendor evaluations, and manage contracts across the construction category.
Key Responsibilities:
- Consult directly with internal business units to provide technical advice on procurement strategies, specifications, risk mitigation, and project timelines.
- Develop and issue complete procurement documentation, including RFPs, tender documents, bid forms, evaluation criteria, and contract terms.
- Administer the end-to-end bidding process by posting solicitations, handling vendor inquiries, coordinating site visits, and facilitating internal scoring meetings.
- Lead commercial vendor negotiations, execute contract amendments over the agreement lifecycle, and conduct vendor debrief sessions.
- Prepare formal purchase approval reports and governance documentation in accordance with procurement processes.
- Provide day-to-day guidance, instruction, and task oversight to junior purchasing support staff.
About You:
- Minimum 4 years of procurement experience, with a required background in Ontario or similar public sector procurement.
- Demonstrated experience managing construction procurement, including capital projects, facilities, and trade-related contracts.
- Thorough knowledge of Canadian public procurement law and competitive bidding methodologies.
- Strong collaborative and communication skills to consult effectively with legal, risk management, vendors, and cross-functional project teams.
