ACADEMIC THROMBOSIS SPECIALIST — Research Educator – Department of Medicine, McMaster University
The Department of Medicine, Faculty of Health Sciences at McMaster University and Hamilton Health Sciences invites applications for an Academic Thrombosis Specialist. This is a full‑time faculty position for a period of three years (renewable). Academic rank will be commensurate with the candidate’s qualifications and experience.
Key responsibilities include:
- Conducting patient care clinical activity, expected to comprise approximately 30% of time.
- Providing consultative thrombosis medicine for both inpatient and outpatient settings.
- Engaging in the academic mission of the Faculty and Division, including teaching, curriculum development, and student mentorship.
- Contributing to research and scholarship, with preference for candidates who have completed fellowship training in Adult Thrombosis Medicine and have expertise in managing venous and arterial thromboembolism, particularly cardiac and arterial thrombosis.
- Participating in departmental and divisional educational activities.
Qualifications:
- Board‑certified (or eligible for certification) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada.
- Licensed (or eligible for licensure) in the Province of Ontario.
- Completion of fellowship training in Adult Thrombosis Medicine (preferred) or advanced graduate training in Health Research Methodology, Biomedical Sciences, or related scholarship activities.
This position is located in a host hospital or other healthcare site that has an active vaccination mandate in place. Successful applicants will need to comply with vaccination and other health and safety measures as part of their appointment.
