Compensation: $65.00-$80.00 per hour
Stafingo is partnering with a leading public sector organization in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) to identify a highly experienced Senior Data Analytical Specialist / Data Scientist to support a strategic health analytics initiative.
This is a senior-level opportunity for an analytical professional with strong expertise in statistical modelling, data science, reproducible analytics workflows, and complex health data analysis. The successful candidate will play a key role in analyzing, adapting, validating, and operationalizing an advanced population health model within an enterprise analytics environment.
The ideal candidate will bring a strong combination of data science, statistical modelling, programming, data engineering, and stakeholder collaboration skills to support evidence-based decision-making and sustainable analytics capabilities.
Role Overview :
The Senior Data Analytical Specialist / Data Scientist will be responsible for analyzing and implementing complex analytical models, developing reproducible workflows, validating results, and supporting knowledge transfer to internal teams.
The successful candidate will contribute to:
• Advanced statistical and analytical modelling initiatives
• Population health and evidence-based analytics solutions
• Data ingestion, transformation, and quality validation workflows
• Reproducible data science processes using R/Python
• Enterprise analytics platform integration
• Documentation and knowledge transfer activities
Key Responsibilities :
Analytical Modelling & Data Science
- Analyze complex analytical models, methodologies, assumptions, and data requirements.
- Build, validate, and operationalize statistical models within enterprise analytics environments.
- Evaluate model logic, outputs, limitations, and assumptions through rigorous testing.
- Apply statistical methods and quantitative techniques to support evidence-based decision-making.
- Develop reproducible analytical workflows using R and/or Python.
Data Engineering & Analytics Workflows
- Design and implement data ingestion, transformation, and quality-checking processes.
- Work with structured and unstructured datasets from multiple sources.
- Develop reliable data-processing workflows to support analytical models.
- Troubleshoot data, code, and analytical issues to ensure sustainable solutions.
- Support integration of analytical products within cloud-based analytics platforms.
Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with data engineers, architects, analysts, technical teams, and business stakeholders.
- Translate complex statistical concepts and analytical results for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Support requirements gathering, solution design, testing, documentation, and implementation activities.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to support knowledge transfer.
- Documentation & Knowledge Transfer
- Create detailed documentation covering methodologies, analytical workflows, code, and data requirements.
- Develop knowledge-transfer materials and conduct training sessions for internal teams.
- Enable long-term sustainability of analytical solutions beyond the engagement.
Required Qualifications
- Senior-level experience in data science, analytics, statistical modelling, or quantitative research.
- Strong experience developing and validating statistical models and analytical workflows.
- Advanced proficiency with R and/or Python for data analysis and modelling.
- Strong experience working with query languages, data manipulation, and analytical programming.
- Experience designing reproducible, version-controlled analytical workflows.
- Experience working with complex datasets from structured and unstructured sources.
- Strong understanding of data management, database concepts, governance, and analytics architecture.
- Ability to communicate complex quantitative methods and analytical findings clearly.
- Strong problem-solving, investigative, and decision-making skills.
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams including technical and business stakeholders.
Preferred / Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with healthcare, population health, public sector, or regulated data environments.
- Experience with chronic disease modelling, burden-of-disease analysis, epidemiology, or health analytics.
- Experience adapting academic or research-based models into production environments.
- Experience with Power BI and analytical visualization.
- Experience working with Azure analytics platforms, Databricks, or cloud-based data environments.
- Experience supporting enterprise data governance and data-sharing initiatives.
- Knowledge of accessibility standards such as AODA.
