The Summer Youth Mentor will assist in executing the summer continuation of the Shared Services Mentorship Program in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. This position requires you to build relationships with youth, act as a positive role model and facilitate meaningful workshops to Youth Mentorship groups throughout the summer for students in grades 1-5. This position is 30 hours/week.
Responsibilities
- Implement programming in various community settings in a small group setting.
- Creating & facilitating interactive workshops for a small group of youth ages 6-11.
- Building relationships & providing mentorship to youth referred to YMCA Mentorship Program.
- Comply with all YMCA Child Protection Policy & Procedures & complete all Child Protection training as required.
- Communicating program success & activities to program participants, their family & through the Y network.
Requirements
- Ability to build relationships & work with youth is an asset, especially those with challenging behaviours.
- Self‑motivated & able to work independently as well as part of a small team.
- Experience & interest in working with youth.
- Interest in lessons/program planning.
- Demonstrate the ability to be a positive role model, mentor & authentic leader.
- Good communication skills & interpersonal skills.
- Must obtain an original Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search dated before start date.
- Must have updated CPR & First Aid upon start date.
- Valid driver’s license.
