Role Description
This is a part-time, remote Web Developer role responsible for maintaining and enhancing Indigenous Energy Monitor’s online platform. The Web Developer will implement new features, fix bugs, and optimize performance across front-end and back-end components. Daily tasks include collaborating with team members to translate data and research needs into user-friendly web interfaces, integrating APIs and databases, and ensuring cross-browser and mobile responsiveness. The role also involves applying best practices in security, accessibility, and usability, and contributing ideas to improve the overall user experience and technical architecture.
Qualifications
- Strong skills in Web Development and Programming for building and maintaining modern web applications.
- Proficiency in Front-End Development and Web Design to create accessible, responsive, and user-centered interfaces.
- Experience with Back-End Web Development to manage data, APIs, and server-side logic securely and efficiently.
- Familiarity with version control tools (e.g., Git) and collaborative development workflows.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment, manage part-time hours, and meet agreed deadlines.
- Experience with data-driven or analytics platforms, especially in energy, resources, or Indigenous economic development, is an asset.
- Commitment to inclusive design and respect for Indigenous perspectives and knowledge systems.
- Relevant post-secondary education or equivalent practical experience in web development or related fields.
